A tractor pull with a Zetor Proxima Plus 100 has raised over £1,000 for a charity created to raise awareness of brain tumours, while also providing practical support to Stu Ridley who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour earlier this year. The spirit and good humour of this 25-year-old young farmer and rugby player inspired his fellow rugby players, and the whole community, to start the Stay Strong Stu trust fund. The charity recently held the Stu’s Super Sunday event at Tynedale Rugby Football Club. This created an opportunity for Zetor UK to contribute to the cause and give local farmers and rugby players a challenge to pull the 100hp tractor. Zetor agreed to donate £1 for every metre the four-tonne tractor was pulled; and when the 10 teams of seven had each successfully pulled the tractor for 100m, the company handed over £1,000 to the Stay Strong Stu charity. Zetor UK sales and marketing manager Maros Karabinos said the decision to help the charity was taken without hesitation. “We were asked by our Northumbrian dealer, Davies Tractors, to help somehow, and we came up with the idea of a charity tractor pull,” he said. “The spirit of a fighter is appealing to all connected with Zetor, and we were privileged to contribute. The whole experience of Stu’s Super Sunday was very inspiring.” The goal is to raise £150,000 and Zetor is kindly asking all its fans, customers and business partners to support Stay Strong Stu by making a donation or organising a fundraising event.
