Driving impression: Claas Quadrant 2100 RC big baler Big brother little brother Debuting at last year’s Agritechnica exhibition the Claas 2100 is the latest baler to join the Quadrant family. With bale chamber measurements of 80cm x 70cm it represents an admission by Claas that there is demand for a ‘square’ section bale as well as for the firm’s more familiar rectangular profile – the Quadrant 2200 etc. We tuck the 2100 into grass
Wide packages don’t suit all palates in the world of big balers. And that is especially true of silage and hay making, where a narrower bale tends to be preferred.
Which does, or certainly did, leave Claas with something of a model dilemma. It has long supplied the 120cm wide x 70cm high Quadrant 2200 (profi 08/99) and the original 1200 before it; and then, down at the smaller end, the firm still sells its diminutive 80cm x 50cm sized Quadrant 1150. But there has been nothing slotted in between. Hence the Agritechnica arrival of the 2100, with an 80cm x 70cm chamber.
To look at, the new 2100 looks little different to its 2200 bigger brother, sharing its body styling, adjustable drawbar, a 2.10m width pick-up – 1.90m from tine to tine – and the company’s own Power Feed System (PFS) crop intake design.
