DRIVING IMPRESSION: The T7.210 represents a number of firsts for New Holland. It’s part of the new SCR-equipped family, which is now starting to roll off the Basildon production line, and it also drives through a new compact Auto Command CVT. Worthy of a more in-depth look? Absolutely. Mervyn Bailey takes the new ‘T’ out for a spin.

Most of you will now be coming to terms with the term Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), as it would appear to be the exhaust treatment of choice for many tractor manufacturers as they tackle Stage 3b. New Holland is one such player that has opted for the urea-based Diesel Exhaust Fluid or AdBlue set-up for its tractors over 100hp, and forming part of this new family are the T7 models, which effectively replace the more powerful T6000s and all of the T7000 range in one fell swoop. The T6000 Power Command tractors will drop off the price list over the coming months, succeeded by new T7 variants.

This change in power house also brings CVT technology to the lower steeds in the New Holland stable, with the T7.170, T7.185, T7.200 and the model we focus on here, theT7.210, gaining a new transmission option. According to New Holland, this is an important addition for root crop growers wanting a stepless box but without a dramatic hike in weight. The new smaller Auto Command scales only 100kg heavier than its powershift equivalent, while the old TVT weighed in at almost 500kg more. Incidentally, the new NH numbering system relates to each tractor’s maximum engine power.
