Recent summer droughts have put a focus on water wastage, so can we apply a little more precision to irrigation? IT-Direkt seems to think so. Its Raindancer software allows users to create variable rate irrigation areas and remote access irrigators to see how work is progressing

Running several hose-reel irrigators can be a management challenge — which field needs to be irrigated next? Are the units operating on remote blocks working properly? Has it been set correctly so water is not landing on a road or other non-cropped area? Which irrigator is due to finish next? Does the machine shut off at the pre-set time? All of these questions are addressed by Raindancer, developed by Berlin-based IT-Direkt, which is marketed in the UK by RST Irrigation.
