USED MACHINERY: Hardi replaced its Commander trailed sprayers with new but hardly different machines in 2005. Or, at least, that’s how it first appears. In practice, the still-current Commander models are a ‘generation’ design advance over their predecessors, as James de Havilland finds out

Danish-based sprayer company Hardi debuted its first Commander trailed models in 1997, prior to marketing a choice of hydraulic- or Trail Control steered drawbars on the Plus machines introduced in 2000. Commander-wise, we’re off and running. Available in tank capacities of 2,200, 2,800, 3,200 and 4,200 litres, these original Commander models were sold with a sizeable number of boom options – LPY/Z, GVA aluminium, HAZ or HPZ booms with a 36m maximum (see the model development box for a better idea of the specs on offer). In the UK, the Hardi HC2500 in-cab electric control box came as part of the standard package.
