Shown at Cereals for the first time, Hardi can now offer a high capacity mounted spraying rig. Indeed the firm reckons its Mega is the biggest on the market, with the range’s flagship model boasting a capacity of 2,200 litres
Hardi has brought some Commander thinking to its mounted range of sprayers with the addition of a new top model, the appropriately named Mega. And the company’s thinking on this issue of sprayer size is refreshingly simple: bigger tractors with bigger tyres can work with bigger sprayers, so let’s get bigger. The headline-grabbing stat is a maximum tank capacity of 2,200 litres, which can be combined with an 1,800-litre front tank to result in an all-up rig capableof carrying 4,000 litres.
For now the Mega is marketed in just two tank capacities, the aforementioned 2,200-litre and an 1,800-litre version, but Hardi says smaller 1,200- and 1,500-litre models are in the pipeline as well as different build levels. Initially there is just the bells and whistles D version, complete with Dynamic Fluid 4 system.
To make hitching up easier, Hardi has introduced its take on a sliding top link mechanism — to tilt the sprayer back by 8°. This gives an extra 40cm of space to couple up the pto, hydraulic pipes and wiring before reversing back and the top link then locking home.
The lower links also gain pneumatic suspension with air bags to cushion the inevitable on-the-road/in-the-field jolts; after all, an empty 2,200-litre sprayer with a 28m boom weighs in at 1.9t. Speaking of weight, Hardi has positioned the clean water tank at the front, the logic being that the 250-litre tank will be the last to empty, so this keeps the sprayer’s weight closer to the tractor.
