Driving impression: Horsch Maistro 11RC precision drill Although not yet offered within the UK, Horsch’s Maistro maize drill is currently enjoying its first full season of sales on the Continent, the results of which will probably determine what importer Simba Horsch decides to do on this side of the Channel for 2006. We worked the 11-row variant.
It’s certainly an intriguing piece of kit to look at. Massive red tank, mounted on a chassis with tractorsized tyres, and a conventional-type precision seeder hanging out the back. It appears an unlikely combination and, in many ways, it is, the first element coming from Germany and the precision parts travelling across the Atlantic. To be a little more exact, the fertiliser tank and chassis hail from Horsch, while the sowing section – the seeder units, seed metering, soil components – are bought in from US firm Kinze.
