DRIVING IMPRESSION: Knight Farm Machinery places operator comfort at the top of the priority list, with its decision to provide the 2000-series self-propelled sprayer with an all-new cab. Geoff Ashcroft climbs aboard
By Knight’s own admission there was still room for improvement when it came to the cab on its 1800- and 2000-series self-propelled sprayers.
“The old, sliding-door design, which is still standard spec on the 1800-series, remains popular with operators,” says David Main, Knight’s technical director. “But this cab is now four years old, and we can see a few areas where we can review the design to add value to our range — particularly on our larger sprayer platform.”
Perhaps critically, the introduction of wider boom options on the larger 2000-series had highlighted the need to improve visibility across the full width of the boom. This is an aspect that would have been difficult to achieve with the existing 1800 cab design, due partly to the flat rear windscreen and also the prominent corner post position that obstructs the operator’s line of sight.
