Hoes tend to use a parallelogram linkage to allow the weeding tool to follow the ground. However, organic farmer and engineer Dieter Leibing has developed a new approach that’s both simple and affordable

“We’ve always encountered problems of some form or other with more traditional hoes,” says Dieter Leibing. “Among the various drawbacks are that the parallelogram frames require a great deal of maintenance, that the depth control rubber wheels are not always effective; and that the penetration can be a real problem in our heavy soils.”
