With the introduction of the Servo 2000N, Pöttinger has completed its plough line-up overhaul. We try out a four-furrow version of the firm’s lightest range.
KEEPING IT BRIEF
- The three- and four-furrow Servo 2000 replaces the Servo 25.
- Has a similar design and hardware as the larger Pöttinger ploughs.
- Buyers can choose from three spec levels, nine mouldboards and five different skimmers.
- Produced at the Vodñany plant in Czech Republic.

Over the past few years, Pöttinger has been overhauling its plough line-up, and the introduction of its lightest model range, the Servo 2000, completes this project. Replacing the 25 series, the two-furrow reversible has been dropped so now there is just a three-furrow with a plus one body extension to make a four-furrow, as we used here.
Another change over the predecessor is that the ‘Nova’ hydraulic breakback system has been added to the options list, and you can have the ‘Plus’ hydraulic vari-width, too.
The Servo follows a similar design to the Servo 3000 line (three- to six-furrow, up to 240hp) and 4000 (four- to six-furrow, up to 360hp), just trimmed of some of its metal fat to better match its maximum horsepower rating of up to 130hp. The headstock has two fixed top link positions plus a slotted hole to choose from. The one-piece lower crossbar can be mounted in four different positions to match various tractor lift arm geometries.

Nova or Plus
The Servo 2000 requires a double-acting spool for the turnover — if you have auto-reset then a single-acting spool is needed for setting the pressure that triggers the breakback system — while the vari-width uses a double-acting spool. However, you can’t have both Nova and Plus on the Servo 2000. It’s a case of either or: if you want both of these features, then you need to look at Servo 3000. Likewise, there is no traction boosting ‘Traction Control’ option on the lightweight plough.
One welcome detail on the hydraulic side of things is that, even on these smaller ploughs, Pöttinger now fits a filter to protect the oil- using components.
The solid turnover shaft on Servo 25 has been replaced by a 90mm hollow shaft. The adjustable stops are positioned on the left and right of the headstock. Compared to the old model, these hand-adjustable stops have spring clips to stop them turning on their own — the previous locking system didn’t always do its job. This improved version is now used on all Pöttinger ploughs.

Straightforward setting
A cast steel arm is part of the ‘Servomatic’ turnover mechanism. Attached to it is the front furrow adjuster to correct the point of draft if you change the furrow width. This job is done automatically if the plough has hydraulic vari-width, or manually on the turnbuckle if you don’t. There is a default setting for each furrow width.
The furrow width is manually set on a hole pattern with five holes. Furrow widths of 28 to 46cm are possible on the smallest point to point spacing (88cm), 30 to 50cm for the mid-sized 95cm version and 32 to 54cm for the widest spacing (102cm).

Our plough also had a ram that swings in the beam to increase the ground clearance when turning over. Plus plough models also protect the bushes on the hydraulic width adjustment.
The main frame bearing extends to the second furrow. The holes are centred in the main beam. The top and bottom are bolted separately to prevent the beam from being compressed.

The trip force of the Nova auto reset can be set anywhere between 1,000kg and 1,350kg, depending on the current break-back pressure. As the body returns back into work, the pressure increases on the way down to improve plough penetration. The breakback system has up to 36cm of vertical travel and 20cm to the side.

Good job
The plough we used was equipped with the firm’s 46WC bodies and V2 skimmers. This combination was able to produce a uniform finish on the forage maize stubble, which hadn’t been touched since last autumn. The plough didn’t have any issues getting into the heavy ground or clearing the furrow bottom for the 600 tyres.
