Planting a catch crop in between rows of maize is gaining strong interest in the UK and Germany, not only as a greening option but also to prevent soil erosion in river catchment areas as well as giving a more natural form of weed control. In 2019, Dutch legislation made catch crops mandatory in some areas of the Netherlands, so farmers and contractors there are charging ahead looking for solutions.
