Closed transfer systems keep the operator and the environment fully protected from accidental splashes or spillage of undiluted crop protection products – and are to be made available throughout the EU by 2030. We took a closer look at what’s in development

The days of risking splashback onto protective clothing – or the ground – when filling a sprayer’s induction bowl with product could thankfully be numbered. On the continent, the first developments of closed transfer systems in Germany came around 20 years ago, with Lechler’s Agro Super Link and the Ecomatik from Agrotop, developed for (reusable) containers such as those offered by Bayer and BASF.
