Since its purchase of the major assets and design rights of the Pearson potato kit business four years ago, Standen, in Standen-Pearson guise, has broadened its commitment to its specialist sector, trailed potato equipment. Undeterred by the lure of developing an eye-catching self-propelled unit, the firm has remained focused on tractor-operated harvesters.

But then that does not mean that it isn’t competing in the same output class as SP harvester makers, according to Standen, particularly now that its T3 trailed three-row model is in full production. The firm believes the T3 could tempt a number of trailed two-row owners to switch away from their current machines, particularly if operating more than one. And Standen even suggests the machine provides a cost-effective alternative option to an SP two-row harvester.
