The Teagle Tomahawk feeder bedder has been around in its various forms since 1998, the machine pretty much revolutionising how loose yards are bedded with straw and large bales dispensed for feeding. Here we take a look at the Tomahawk 8080 models made from 1998 to 2011
With over 30 years’ experience in manufacturing the Tomahawk range and a consistent market share in recent years of around 50% in the UK, it is fair to say that Teagle has been at the forefront in the development of feeder bedders from the start, with the Tomahawk brand a familiar sight on many UK livestock farms.
Since their introduction in the late 1990s, these machines have proved popular in the UK and abroad where they have been shipped to over 35 countries worldwide. In total around 18,000 Tomahawk models in various guises have been sold. From a used buyer’s perspective this is good news; there will always be a selection of pre-owned units to choose from. To get the best buy, however, you need to know what you’re after.
It’s worth having a look at www.teagle.co. uk where there’s a useful ‘Owners Club’ section. Here you can download the parts bookthat is specific to the serial number of the machine that you are looking at. This means you can study the book prior to visiting a Tomahawk to get an idea of the machine layout and what areas to focus on.
