A large part of the outdoor tomato area harvested in Italy each summer is tackled using homegrown MTS machines, whose customers include the featured Gentili family

Processing tomatoes are a major crop in Italy, and the fertile Po Valley soils, which stretch roughly 500km across northern Italy from Turin to Ferrara, make it one of the most important growing regions. Indeed some 10,000ha of the fruit are grown within a 60km radius of the tomato hotspot town of Piacenza. During the season, the roads in the province are pounded from early in the morning until late in the evening by hundreds of tomato-carrying trucks.
