Driving impression: Valtra C120 EP tractor Fully loaded… … with climate control a total of four time- and flow-controlled spools auto powershift and an array of other specification goodies. Oh yes – and there’s the option of a factory-fit front loader too. No shortage of spec then for Valtra’s new C-series tractors as Andrew Faulkner finds out
One man’s poison is another man’s meat. And arguably it’s much the same with tractors. Take the arable prime mover. Using basic principles, the ideal weight distribution for a four-wheel-drive fieldwork tractor is said to be about 50/50 (rear/front), so when a rearmount cultivator is attached – plus, maybe a little nose ballasting as a counter – the outfit ends up around the 60/40 mark.
Nothing new there. It’s a theory that Finnish tractor manufacturer Valtra has expounded for years, promoting the benefits of its engine-over-the axle configuration that – surprise, surprise – is said to produce this ‘perfect’ 50/50 initial result when unladen. Just the job.
