December 2018 registrations of agricultural tractors (50hp+) in the UK were well below the level of the same month in 2017, but full year numbers increased by just under 1.0% to 12,102 units, the largest annual figure for four years.

The 849 tractors registered in December 2018 were 38% down year-on-year but otherwise was the highest figure for December since 1994, says the AEA, which adds that the December 2017 numbers were inflated by the large number of pre-registered tractors in advance of new regulations.

Once the impact for this is adjusted for, the AEA reckons the market actually grew by between 5% and 10% last year. We will publish a breakdown of last year’s registrations by power and region sometime soon.
