A video on Yanmar’s Agritechnica stand provides a fascinating glimpse of some of the tractors and designs the company is developing for the future. One of these includes a driverless concept similar to the GuideConnect system previewed by Fendt four years ago at the 2011 Agritechnica. Yanmar’s system also connects two tractors via GPS and radio so that both can be controlled by just one driver. Still in the test phase, the system differs to Fendt’s solution in that the slave (unmanned) tractor runs in the front of the master one. It is possible the company may show something on the autonomous tractor front at the next Agritechnica, in 2017.
