Following its initial investment in May last year Claas, through its investment company Seed Green Innovations, has taken a further stake in the Dutch autonomous vehicle manufacturer AgXeed.

Claas has also signed a distribution agreement under which initially selected dealers in Germany and Switzerland will become distribution and service dealers for the AgBot range of autonomous diesel-electric vehicles, which currently include the 154hp (115kW) tracked version, and three- and four-wheeled 74hp (55kW) machines.

In addition to the sale of AgBots, rental models will also be available. Claas reckons this should make it easier for customers to get started with autonomous agricultural technology. Claas Vertriebsgesellschaft has already added two machines to the rental fleet.

Together with Claas and the other partners Amazone and Amathaon, AgXeed intends to further accelerate the development of efficient agricultural process solutions in the coming years.
