Claas is replacing the Axion 800 series with three new technology packed tractors from the Axion 8 CMATIC range.
Unveiled at a European dealer and press event in Harsewinkel, the 8.240 (240hp), 8.270 (270hp) and 8.290 (290hp), are all powered by a 6.7 six-cylinder FPT engine with Dynamic Power.

The new front design, with an optional backlit Claas logo between the headlights, is inspired by the Axion 9 CMATIC. Reducing noise levels to a maximum of 67dB(A), the new fully suspended cab also comes from the Axion 9.

The new models continue to rely on tried-and-tested hardware when it comes to the CVT. The electronic drivetrain management system, however, has been completely redeveloped. Just as with the larger Axion 9s, drivers can use the new vehicle drive controller to switch between driving directions, as well as between pedal, joystick and PTO modes without any changes in engine or vehicle speed.

The Auto Load Anticipation function is worth a mention. Awarded a silver medal at Agritechnica 2025, this continuously and proactively optimizes engine speed and gear shifting based on a self-learning algorithm and various efficiency maps for the engine, transmission, hydraulics and auxiliary units.

Internal volume of the new cab is around 3.m³. The seat swivels up to 40 degrees to the right (10 degrees to the left). Operational progress can be monitored using three high-resolution digital cameras. A particular highlight is the ability to zoom in and out on the new CEBIS connect terminal and to pan the camera in the required direction with a swipe of the finger. The camera integrated between the front headlights ensures greater safety when exiting blind access roads or entering junctions. It also makes it easier to attach front implements or front ballast. A further two external camera connections are available for attachments.
Detecting load spikes, such as when lowering an implement into the ground, in advance, engine speed is proactively increased, with gear shifting adjusted accordingly, before the load spike occurs. This ensures that handling remains stable even during dynamic changes and prevents drops in engine speed.

Maximum lift capacity at the rear: 9.7 tonnes (8.240) or 10.2 tonnes (8.270 and 8.290).
New premium seats with massage function, seat ventilation and seat heater are available, and the new 360-degree lighting concept provides up to 22 LEDs (maximum of 56,000 lumens).
New component warranty covers five years or 5,000 operating hours (extension available for up to 8,000 operating hours or eight years).

The Axion 8 can be fitted with Nokian Soil King VF tyres (rear axle up to 710 70/R42 with a diameter of 2.07m).
Oil changes are now scheduled every 750 operating hours instead of every 600, and the replacement intervals for the most important filters have been extended by 150 to 300 operating hours.
The first of the new models have already landed in the UK and production will be ramped up at the Le Mans plant through the summer and autumn.
