Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) plans to assemble the first production units of the 542hp Belarus 5425 early next year.
MTZ confirms that four pre-production models are currently in tests around the country, and the Minsk plant is being prepped with the tooling to start making the first model in the new range.

The prototype was unveiled at the 2025 edition of the Belagro farm machinery show at the Minsk international exhibition centre. The six-cylinder 13.5-litre Weichai Stage IIIa motor develops 2450Nm of torque at 1500rpm although there is talk of using a domestically produced engine.

The current block is mated to an 18+6 full-powershift. Rear lift capacity is 12t (front 5.5t) and the pneumatically suspended cab is a first for a Belarus tractor. The standard spec also includes the firm´s TTZ precision farming system. This integrates automatic guidance and ISObus implement management.

It is suggested that 300 units should satisfy the needs of Belarussian farmers and the production of the 5425 is partly export-oriented. Russia and Kazakhstan are perceived as the main markets, although other countries are considered as promising destinations.

Nearly 90% of the components for the 5425 are supplied directly from Belarusian plants. The engine, hydraulics and tyres (Trelleborg) are the only exceptions. The rest of the tractor, including the chassis, transmission, electronics and cab, are all designed and made in Belarus.
The most powerful tractor currently listed on the MTZ website is the 359hp 3522. The first model in the 3000 series is available with a Weichai or Cummins motor. Production reportedly increased by a third in 2025 to around 40 tractors a month. The numbers are believed to be running at around 80-90 units a month this year.
