Belgian potato machinery manufacturer AVR will bring its recently-launched Puma 3 self-propelled four-row harvester to LAMMA. Powered by a 469hp 12.8lit Volvo Stage IV SCR engine, other updates include a new Claas cab, touch screen, and joystick (from the company’s trailed harvesters). Many of the other updates to the Belgian-made harvester, including the 600mm longer digging web, are designed to increase the cleaning capacity. The Puma 3 can also be equipped with the patented Varioweb cleaning module, a combination of a standing pintlebelt and axial rollers. The Varioweb’s 200mm-wider pintle belt is now fitted with U-profile haulm fingers for improved separation, and the newly-designed ring elevator combines a heavy-duty rod elevator and active lateral fingers to protect tubers from damage. The Puma 3 is still a lightweight in its class (23.5 tonnes), which in combination with the larger 900/60 R38 tyres keeps soil compaction to a minimum. Traction has also been increased (30% at the front and 15% at the rear), and the steering angle has been improved to 50° at the front and 20° at the rear. AVR will also show the Spirit 9200 WB two-row high-capacity offset bunker harvester, and Ceres 400 cup planter.
