After discontinuing the production of Lely mowers, tedders and hay rakes last April, AGCO has announced that the production of Lely branded round balers and loader wagons at the German factories Wolfenbüttel and Waldstetten, will end in March 2020.

AGCO says the order intake and demand for Fendt and MF machinery have developed significantly faster than initially expected following the presentation of the new round baler and loader wagon ranges at the 2017 Agritechnica, and the production sites for round balers (Wolfenbüttel) and loader wagons (Waldstetten) are currently operating at full stretch for the current Lely brand and for Fendt and Massey Ferguson.

“With the decision to end the production of green harvest machinery from Lely, we provide clarity on the market in good time,” said Rob Smith, senior vice president and general manager for AGCO EME (Europe and Middle East).

AGCO acquired Lely’s forage division in March last year. We are told to expect substantial investments in the product development and expansion of the production sites in Feucht, Waldstetten and Wolfenbüttel.
