French company Seederal is in advanced stages of development with its first electric tractor. The first deliveries are planned for 2028.

After four years of R&D and more than 600 hours of testing, feedback from over 100 farmers is incorporated in the latest version of the 160hp tractor, which has a working range of six to 12 hours. The fast-charging option is said to take two hours to recharge the battery from 0-100% (standard charger take eight to 10 hours).

Top speed is 50km/hr, and the battery is said to provide a range of up to 300km with a fully loaded trailer. The traction control system is said to deliver the smoothness of a CVT, with the simplicity, performance, responsiveness and efficiency of a mechanical transmission.

Designed from the outset to run on electricity and developed entirely in France, the tractor was assembled in a newly opened workshop in Guipavas (between Brest and Rennes).

Seederal continues to test the tractor under real farming conditions and is preparing for type approval and series production. The cost of the tractor has yet be disclosed, but the commercial rollout of the tractor will begin shortly, with initial deliveries scheduled from 2028. Pictures Corentin Laigneau.
