LAMMA visitors with have the first opportunity in the UK to see Case IH’s Magnum 380 CVX Rowtrac, with the first on-farm deliveries expected at the end of this year. Previewed at the Italian EIMA show last November, the concept remains true to the company’s design philosophy of using four contact points to transmit power to the ground. The first Case IH model at this horsepower to compete in the tracked market, the tractor incorporates a suspended, wheeled front axle which enables power delivery to be maintained even while the tractor is turning. The company says the design not only avoids disturbing the soil like a conventional twin-track machine, but also reduces the amount of forward/rearward roll enabling differential locks to be fitted to maximise traction. Four track widths are available – 16″ (405mm), 18″ (460mm) , 24″ (610mm) and 30″ (760mm), which can be set to operate at 76″ (1.9m), 80″ (2.03m), 88″ (2.23m) or 120″ (3.04m) centres.

Aside from its rear tracks, the biggest visual change from previous Magnum models is the roof design and new lighting package, while the engine air intake system is now on the left-hand cab A-post for improved air cleaning performance in dusty conditions. Case IH will also show a suspended-track version of its flagship 636hp 9240 Axial-Flow combine. Also available on the two other 240-Series Axial-Flow models (498hp 7240 and 571hp 8240), the tracks are available in widths of 610mm and 724mm. Overall width on 610mm tracks remains under 3.5m.
