Forage choices: Foraging harmony

The revival of the forage wagon market was the prompt for Tim West to add two such machines to his fleet. A sizeable £150,000 investment six years ago, his reasoning is rather pragmatic: “If we didn’t buy them and offer the service, then someone else was going to,” he explains. “Yes, we did take some of the work away from one of our foragers, but then we picked up a bit more work since, so it has all balanced out.” The West Cumbria based contracting business started out in 1985 following the purchase of a round baler for Mr West's own work, and from there the list has grown to now pretty much cover all agri contracting services

Tim West is in a rather niche position of running both forage wagons and selfpropelled choppers. So why go to the trouble of doubling up?
