Sky Agriculture’s Methys PCS (Precision Cutting System) precision cultivator is now able to sow cover crops in dry conditions and into chopped straw.
This new configuration is based on the precision cultivator frame, with four gauge wheels and a rear harrow that can be individually adjusted for each row. The main innovation is the addition of a distribution head and adjustable seed delivery tubes, which place the seed as close as possible to the furrow.
Initially available for the 4.0m and 6.0m mounted widths, both use 12mm-wide Metcalfe carbide-reinforced seeding tines. With 71cm of under-frame clearance and four rows of tines, the technique is said to offer good clearance for minimal risk of blockages, even on land with significant volumes of crop residues.
This latest version of the precision cultivator completes the firm’s Progress TF solution; a modular approach built around a front hopper. Customers choose a front hopper with 2, 3 or 4 compartments and then select the appropriate rear-mounted seeding solution.
