Belgian manufacturer Dewulf has added the three-row ZB3 to its range of top lifting carrot harvesters.
Developed for growers with an uneven sowing schedule seeking increased performance in all conditions, the ZB3 is powered by the same 350hp Scania DC9 Stage V engine as the existing two-row ZB2, which if for growers working with an even-numbered planting scheme.
The new three-row machine shares much of its technical spec with the ZB2, which was updated and given a facelift last year (see link below). Highlights of some of the technology also found on the ZB3 include the so-called floating share system and the low picking angle of the harvesting belts.
This keeps both harvesting depth and pickup height constant, resulting in good stability and a uniform product flow. Dewulf says that the 14m long harvesting belts, large drive wheels and automatic belt tensioners, provide maximum grip and operational reliability in demanding conditions.
Initial cleaning is provided by two or three rotating, hydraulically driven cleaners beneath the harvesting belts. Machines with cleaners can also be equipped with the Rotary Cleaner Control option. This allows the angle of all cleaners to be adjusted.
Product is then conveyed over two sieving webs, both of which can be equipped with an agitator. The next stage is the 1.15m wide hedgehog belt followed by a third sieving web. The final stage is the second hedgehog belt. This is 900mm wide.
The rear axle can accommodate both 90cm-wide rubber tracks and wheels. The steering angle is fixed at 12°. Switching between tracks and wheels is said to be simple using spacers between the axle and machine frame.
The 7-tonne bunker can be unloaded on the move, and minimum and maximum unloading heights are 1.48m and 4.10m, respectively.
