After New Holland and Case IH, Claas is the latest mainstream tractor maker to come with a rubber track solution for the rear axle. Awarded an Agritechnica Silver medal, the Axion 900 Terra Trac is described as the first half-track tractor with full suspension.  Available as option on all Axion models, the technique is based on technology currently used in the company’s combine harvesters, but with a larger rear drive wheel for increased traction. Claas says the result combines the advantages of a tracked tractor in terms of traction and soil protection, with the more convenient drive characteristics of a conventional standard tractor.

The is no space for the tractor’s standard diesel tank when tracks are fitted, and the larger 800-litre+ fuel tank is included in the fenders. Standard belt width is 635mm, with the option of 735 and 890mm versions. Top speed on the road is 40km/hr. Price and availability details will be released at Agritechnica.
