The MD, a new design of cultivation disc for Kverneland’s trailed U-Drill, is designed to minimise soil disturbance.

Available as an alternative to the short disc harrow, the design of the MD (previously known as the Great Plains Turbo Coulter) has the ability to work as part of a conservation tillage system, or within a conventional crop establishment process.

The fluted profile around the circumference of the 430mm diameter straight disc assists with removing surface trash. The flutes also lightly prepare soil in a narrow 30-50mm strip.

The MD disc is available as an alternative to the short disc harrow on the Kverneland U-Drill.

Each disc aligns with the U-Drill’s CD coulters, enabling seed to be placed in the soil strip for a row spacing of precisely 16.67cm. Individually mounting each MD disc using the 3D auto-reset rubber-mounting system not only allows it to follow ground contours, but also to deflect on-contact with any obstructions, says the company.

The U-Drill is offered in working widths of 3.0m (rigid), 4.0m (rigid/folding) and 6.0m (folding). Designed for operating at speeds from 10-18km/hr, hopper capacity on the 3.0m and 4.0m models is 3,000 litres (6.0m/4,350 litres).
