New Holland’s first T5 tractor with a continuously variable transmission will be one of the highlights at next week’s Italian EIMA show.

Given a special mention in show’s technical innovation contest, we’ll have to wait until the launch next week for the full technical details, but the transmission in the T5 Auto Command models is said to reflect the very latest CVT technology.

The FPT Stage V 4.5-litre four-pot engine is also new. Rated power is from 110 to 140hp, and the T5.140 Auto Command is up to 20hp more powerful than the current T5.120 Electro Command.

The innovation award judges were impressed with the fully under-hood installation of the life-long HI-eSCR2 exhaust gas after-treatment system. This incorporates the DOC, AdBlue injector, SCR system with filter and a second SCR coupled to a Clean-Up Catalyst, which removes residual particulate upstream from the exhaust pipe.

The dimensions of the new tractors, which are described as ideal for livestock and mixed farms, remain unchanged.
