The firm explains that some farmers have replaced a tractors lower lift arm stabiliser with a hydraulic ram to help keep a hoe in between the crop rows when mechanically weeding. But the lateral forces often caused the arm to break, or worse the mounting point on the tractor axle.

The Weeder Pilot positions a hydraulic ram between the tractor axle and the implement’s headstock. As well as keeping the line of draft correct it also means the hoe is not crabbing, causing the tool to increase its cutting width, or miss weeds between the rows.

Supplied with a camera kit which tells the ram to move left or right, the 4PTH unit costs in the region of €17-18,000.
