New Holland and Case IH are culling some of the low-volume selling T6 and Maxxum models later this month. There are a pair of four-cylinder models being dropped from the blue and red brands – the T6.165/Maxxum 135 and the T6.175/Maxxum 145.
This rationalising of the range is due to low volume sales of the four models across Europe – where other models in the range have been proving more popular or there is significant overlap with the phyically smaller, but similar horsepower T5 and Vestrum models.
As it happens, the smaller 135hp model had already been phased out of UK and Irish price lists a couple of years ago.

The bigger surprise is the four-cylinder T6.175 and Maxxum 145, which were the most powerful models in the range when it was introduced nearly ten years ago. Indeed, when the similar horsepower six-cylinder T6.180 / Maxxum 150 was later added there was a lot of chat on fuel economy and could the 4.5-litre engine match the performance of the 6.7-litre – we compared the two in our January 2021 tractor test with a T6.175 and T6.180. We also caught up with a 3,000-hour, T6.175 DynamicCommand in the May 2022 issue to see what it was like to live with.
However, more of the six-cylinder models have found a home, with owners preferring to pay a little extra and feed the two extra cylinders.
From the end of this month, Case IH will have just the four-cylinder Maxxum 125, and six-pot Maxxum 150 with ActiveDrive 4, ActiveDrive 8 and CVX Drive transmission options. While New Holland will continue to offer the 4.5-litre T6.145 and T6.155 alongside the 6.7-litre T6.160 and T6.180 with a choice of ElectroCommand, DynamicCommand and AutoCommand transmissions. There are a limited number of T6.175 and Maxxum 145 build slots left, with dealers also having some of these models in stock.
