The 700 is the third model in the WR front mounted rake range from Agronic. The Finnish manufacturer has also expanded its product portfolio with a stone picker.

The maximum working width of the WR700’s three-section frame of 7.4m is more than a metre wider than the current WR600 evo (6.15m). Like its smaller sibling, the WR700 can also be equipped with a headstock for rear linkage operation, and both front and rear headstocks can be installed at the same time.

The floating headstock allows the rotors to follow ground contours and the three support wheels below each hydraulically driven rotor are all provided with stepless height adjustment.

Like the other two models in the range – the WR500 and WR600 – the WR700 is designed for combining two swaths, creating a swath from tedded crop, or working simultaneously in front of a baler or self-loading forage wagon. When the WR700 is used to combine two swaths behind a mower, the working width of the mower should be under 4.5m and the swath width less than 1.2m.

The WR600 has also received a number of updates for the coming season, one of which includes independent rotor control. This allows each rotor to be moved in and out separately, or both at the same time, via an in-cab control box.

Electric control of the rotors is now also standard. This allows one rotor to be lifted out of work. Work height adjustment remains as the same spacer disc arrangement as before (electric work height adjustment is optional). Other options for all three WR models include a swath compression roller.

Rock Tornado stone picker

Other Agronic developments include the acquisition of the Rock Tornado 550 from fellow Finnish manufacturer Haumet. With a working width of 5.5m, the stone collector uses an integrated central rotor to work the surface and loosen the stones, which are then nudged into the right-side rake for collection, sieving and collecting stones into the rear 2.0m³ capacity hopper. This empties to a height of 2.5m.

Working depths range from 0-10cm and the firm says that the machine can handle stones with a diameter up to 50cm. Empty weight of the machine is 4.9t and tractor power requirement is around 100hp. The standard tyre size is 500/60R22.5 (optional 600/50R22.5 and 710/45R22.5).

“The Stone Tornado is a proven machine in Finland and export markets,” comments Agronic representative Jeff Lancaster, “but is a new product for Agronic. It offers numerous advantages, especially in terms of full width working performance and it is competitively priced.”

New UK importer

The Finnish manufacturer continues to receive significant interest from all around the UK and Ireland for the WR range, and the firm is seeking a UK importer to take over from Fife-based Henderson Agri Services.

“The concept will change as the company moves forward to a direct-to-dealer approach,” continued Mr Lancaster. “This will enable us to shorten our supply and sales chains, keep prices competitive, and allowing our dealers to have a greater degree of exclusivity.

“We are in discussion with a of number major British and Irish dealer groups, and we are enthusiastic of having a stable sales organisation for our rakes and stone pickers in both the UK and Ireland in the not-too-distant future.”
