Chinese manufacturer Zoomlion has developed three new hybrid tractors, the DV3504 (350hp), DV3804 (380hp) and DV4004 (400hp).
The two ‘smaller’ models were previewed in China last autumn, but the first 400hp tractor has just left the assembly line at the Kaifeng (Henan Province) plant.
The diesel engines in the trio are mated to what the company calls an intelligent MIDD (Meshed Intelligent Direct Drive) hybrid system. How it works is still under wraps, but there is a faint hint it provides an electric power boost and fuel consumption is said to be around 8.0% lower. All we know for sure is it provides infinitely variable speeds from 0-40km/hr.

A built-in navigation system is standard inside the pressurised cab where noise levels are 79dBA. A 360-degree camera system provides the driver with unobstructed visibility around the three 14t tractors. The standard hydraulic system has a capacity of up to 220l/min (DV3504) and 250l/m (DV3804/DV4004).
The vital statistics of the trio are 6.4m(l) x 4.2m(w) x 3.4m(h). The wheelbase is 3.0m, track width is 1.8m, ground clearance is 440mm, rear lift is around 10t and tyre sizes are 600/70R30 (front) and 710/70R42 (rear). Demonstrations are planned in all regions of the Russian Federation, and the first deliveries are expected later this year.

The 380hp DV3804 was first seen at a farm machinery show in China.
“This will be a new generation tractor that fully replaces similar models from European manufacturers, while achieving greater efficiency and fuel efficiency,” comments Rushan Aynetdinov – chief operating officer of Zoomlion Agriculture Machinery Co.
One burning question is does Zoomlion AG, which was established in 2011, still plan to bring its tractors and farm machinery (includes combines and balers) to Europe? The company had a huge stand at Agritechnica 2015, and was talking of equally big plans to target the European market and establish a dealer network.
We have not heard much about the Chinese manufacturer’s plans since, but it has been busy. With an agricultural R&D centre in North America, it reckons to have a presence in over 70 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. In Europe, it has dealers in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain, the UK and Ukraine, although we believe these handle Zoomlion’s construction machines and access platforms.
The most recent sighting of a Zoomlion ag product in Europe was at the German Agra2024 show in Leipzig. On the stand of Rabe, which Zoomlion bought in April 2020, was the latest Zoomlion ZTH2506 telehandler.
Speaking at the company’s 2025 business conference, which was attended by 400 Chinese dealers, assistant Zoomlion president Lu Qing said that the company has a strong R&D, production process and manufacturing capabilities. “I am confident we can achieve greater growth in the global agricultural machinery industry,” he said.
