USED MACHINERY: The Fendt tool carrier has a lot going for it; just ask any existing user. But, as with most tractors, it also has a few drawbacks – its price, for starters. Here we point out what to look for when buying a second-hand 380 GTA

Fendt and systems: The two words are almost synonymous. Since tractor time began, the Bavarian company has been inextricably linked with the systems concept. And it’s still the same today with the 110hp+ Xylon, the GTA and GT all figuring prominently in the Fendt tractor line-up.

Here we concentrate on the 380 GTA, an 80hp model which was launched back in 1985 and has remained largely unchanged, save a handful of mostly minor updates along the way.

Despite its unconventional appearance, the GTA is surprisingly basic in it spec with little in the way of electronic gadgetry to satiate the techno bores. But if you think few frills translate into low cost, think again. This Fendt is no different to any other, and you will need fathom-deep pockets whether buying new or second-hand
