Big, big, big. As it would seem with all farm machinery, the relentless drive for more power, output, and physical presence continues apace in the world of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).
Whether that extra ATV power can be fully utilised remains a subject for some debate. Yet the demand is unquestionably there – certainly from the mass US leisure market, the target for most ATV launches. And we’re told that this muscle appeal, albeit in far less volume, is now over here too.
For proof, just look at how the various high-profile makers have extended into the UK’s 500cc+ sector in recent history. First came the 595cc Yamaha Grizzly and 493cc Polaris 500, followed by the 498cc Bombardier Traxter in 2000. And this year alone, the Kawasaki KVF650 and Honda TRX500 add still further to the big bike options. Do these muscle-laden four-wheelers have a place on farms?
