Used machinery :The Ford 6610 is one of the workhorses of UK agriculture. Its popularity means there is still strong demand for used machines which also fetch keen prices at auction. This comparison with users’ comments explains what to look out for when buying second hand

With about a 24% share of the market, Ford tractors are a common sight on UK farms. This popularity, combined with the help of an extensive dealer network means there is also a good market for second hand machines.

Dealer support and good second hand prices are two of the biggest attractions which influence buyers when choosing a new tractor. This means second hand buyers often have to pay a premium for the Ford name and back-up. That creates a dilemma in the second hand market – whether to go for a less-known model, which can come cheaper with higher power and better specification, or stick with a standard stalwart?

Experience shows many buyers stay with what they know and choose the most common makes. In this report, gleaned from users’ comments and a detailed look at two tractors, we examine used tractors in the Ford 6610 series – manoeuvrable, multi-purpose machines in the 80hp class built between 1981 and 1988.
