You may well start to see more Vredo machines at work in the UK, as the Dutch manufacturer is one of the firms hoping to fill the gap left by the Challenger TerraGator. We take a look at the Trac flagship, the VT 6018-3

Vredo originally launched the VT 6018-3 back in 2011 with the short-lived Mali stepless transmission. The knee-jerk reaction was to look for an alternative gearbox, but nothing would fit without redesigning the whole self-propelled Trac. In the end Vredo decided to club together with Sauer Bibus and Zuidberg to create their own stepless gearbox.

Now the VT 6018-3 is back in business, with its in-house variable speed transmission development sitting below a massive 32m3 plastic tank. Even with a 24 trailing shoe injector, the machine weighs in at a relatively light 29t. Other key stats include an overall length of 11.1m, 3.8m high and an on-theroad width of 3.0m or 3.3m when you add the Bomech trailing shoe injector that folds down either side of the tank.

The VT 6018-3 model designation breaks down like this: Vredo Trac, 600hp, 1st generation, 8-cyl. The -3 on the end refers to three axles, because the machine will also be offered as a two-axle variant.
