When using a front hopper for seed or fertiliser, there is always the challenge on where and how to route the delivery pipes to the rear-mounted machine, with fitting the mounting brackets being the biggest head scratcher. Here are some problem-solving fixes from our readers.
When we were doing our precision planter and front hopper test comparison last spring, it soon became apparent that there is no standardised solution for fitting the delivery hoses to the tractor. And with the rising popularity of front hoppers, it would be really useful, for example, if there were threaded holes on the outside of the cab. For now, custom solutions require a lot of creativity, and there is always that lingering doubt: “will this hold up to all of the bumps, thumps and vibrations in the field.”
Key points to consider are where to fasten the mounting bracket on the tractor chassis or cab especially with the latter where there is regular movement from the suspension. Also, check whether the pipe is protected against static charge and offers the required flow performance.
SNAP HOOKS HOLD THE ISOBUS LINE
Here’s a simple solution for attaching the ISObus cable under the seed pipe. The hooks just snap open and shut.

MOUNTED ON TUBE STEEL
This owner uses two mounting points on his Fendt to support the pipe. One is at the front on the handrail, the other at the rear under the warning sign holder. These holders are made from solid round steel to which Matthias Kaiser can attach the delivery pipe without any extra help – the plastic pipe is relatively light.
The front holder is fixed to the handrail with clamps that are used for hydraulic hoses. The rear holder is clamped to the warning sign holder. The pipe is secured in place by a clip on the rear, while a bolt is wound into the tapped threads on the front holder.
