The single- and two-row SE harvesters have been around since 1991. Now Grimme has slotted these popular harvesters’ separating system into the new four-row self-propelled — the Ventor
The Ventor 4150 is Grimme’s response to customers who want a higher output version of the SE potato harvester. The four-row, self-propelled was launched to the press last September before getting its first public airing at Agritechnica. We had the opportunity to take a look at one of the prototypes.
The trailed SE harvester concept uses webs for the elevator, a haulm web and two separators. It is a configuration that is especially popular with growers on sandy soils, particularly in mainland Europe.
The separators on the Ventor 4150 are sourced from a pair of two-row SE models. In order to have the webs working at very shallow angles, the tubers are lifted well ahead of the front axle. Depth control for the ‘TerraFloat’ lifter is maintained by five sizeable steel rollers, which then supply a steady flow of spuds to the pair of 1.50m wide webs.
