Kubota and Norwegian startup Kilter have signed a European agreement for the sale and distribution of the AX-1 autonomous spot spraying robot.
Building on the existing partnership between the two companies signed at Agritechnica 2025, they are now exploring other markets for the AX-1, including France and the UK.

Already in commercial use in Germany and the Netherlands, the spot spraying robot is supported by Kubota’s Smart Farming Solutions department and its European dealers. Spare parts available through Kubota’s European parts centre in Thionville, France.
The Norwegian startup launched the first AX-1 in 2021. With 6mm accuracy and AI-driven weed recognition, the AX-1 applies micro droplets of herbicide directly onto each weed. Designed to work in high-value crops such as vegetables and herbs, it cuts herbicide use by up to 95 percent. Kilter reckons that the 66 AX-1 robots it has delivered so far have saved growers more than one million litres of herbicide.
“Growers need more than a great machine. They need a dealer nearby and parts they can count on, and that is what Kubota brings,” says Kristoffer Magnor, managing director of Kilter. “We started with Kubota in two countries. This agreement lets us bring the AX-1 to growers across Europe, one market at a time.”
