Mower blades that last up to four or five times longer. That’s the claim from Kuhn Farm Machinery for its new set of cutting blades for its Optidisc mowers and mower conditioners.

The new Triple 5 long-life blades are 5mm thick and have a 55mm cutting width, as opposed to the standard blades which are 4mm thick and have a 46mm cutting width. Tested around the world, Kuhn says the anti-abrasive quality and high resistance to deformation allows the new blades to last up to four or five times longer than standard ones.

Compatible with all bolt attachment or Fast-Fit versions of the Optidisc cutter bars manufactured since the end of 2011, the new blades feature a double-bevelled edge on the underside to facilitate self-sharpening, which is claimed to result in a cleaner cut.

Sold in packs of 20, the RRP of each Triple 5 blade is £2.49, more than double that of the standard blades, which are available in packs of 24 (£1.02 RRP each).
