Vicon LB 1270 OC big square baler …. Vicon provides a number of significant updates on its LB 1270 big baler. Indeed, bearing in mind the nature of those changes, we’re a little surprised that the company hasn’t gone down the curvy, modern panel route and given the product a complete rebadging lift. Still, there’s a certain user comfort in familiarity.
Make no mistake, the Vicon LB 1270 OC is every bit the modern baler – from its field-friendly tandem axle all the way through to the smooth-feed OmniCut crop intake system. So, in short, don’t be deceived by that boxy exterior, which now seems rather out of place in a machinery world currently dominated by cute curves and fashionable ‘designer’ liveries. The LB is, without doubt, a serious contender in the big baler sector.
Not that this has come before time. Many operators, after all, will recall the frustration that often accompanied working with some of Vicon’s earlier products, such as the notoriously temperamental MP800. That’s ancient history, though, and there’s a feeling that this latest incarnation, the LB, is pretty much the finished article. Which must make it all the more galling for the guys on the ground at Vicon, who will lose LB sales rights to rival Kuhn from September 2010.
