Abbey has been making tub-based diet feeders since 2001. Now it has put some of that experience into developing the Plus range of twin-auger machines.

To meet the demands of intensive farms, Abbey introduced the VF Plus range of diet feeders last year. Only available as a twin tub, the Plus models include the VF Twin 2450, 2650, 2850 and 3050 with respective capacities of 24-30m³. In simple terms the ‘Plus’ version gains extra metal in all the important wear areas and extra bracing around the gearboxes to extend the feeder’s service life. Of course this does mean a price premium with the VF 2450 Plus featured here starting from around £45,800.

Base spec includes useful features such as a platform at the front and 25km/hr rated tandem axle running gear that can benefit from passive steering on the back for an additional £2,100. Guillotine doors are also fitted, but, if your building layout demands, then various elevators and a cross conveyor appear on the options list.

The control boxes are sourced from Digi-Star allowing farmers to upgrade from a simple programmable weigh display to connected units such as the TMR Tracker with smartphone access. There are four weigh
