Each year somewhere between 100 and 150 new self-propelled mixer wagons are sold in Germany, making it one of the world’s biggest markets. Competition is fierce, and manufacturers are keen to develop techniques to gain an edge. The turning and lifting cab concept conceived by German dairy farmer, and former Faresin dealer, Alois Hirl is a good example. Previewed at the 1998 EuroTier as the SF HS (horizontal), it was not only a big hit with visitors, but also with the show’s innovation jury who awarded it with a gold medal. Two decades later, it is almost a case of ‘Whatever happened to’ it?
