Keenan makes a wide range of trailed horizontal paddle mixer wagons, topped off by the MechFiber 400. Needing at least 120hp up front, this tandem-axle unit can chop bales and feed 190 dairy cows from one load. Down at the other end of the scale is the MF250eco, whose modest 55hp requirement, single axle and compact size suit it to smaller operations.
In common to both units is Keenan’s mixing/delivery system, which uses a horizontal, slow-turning paddle to sweep material across banks of knives and then pass it to a faster spinning lateral auger for delivery. And while individual machines can be configured for height and discharge to suit different buildings, their service principles are similar. The following covers the basic set-up and service points on a six-season ECO50 (now called the MF250eco), with the job breaking down into four main areas — chains, bearings, paddle rubbers/knives and greasing.
