Launched in 2001, Kverneland five- to seven-furrow LO shearbolt and EO auto-reset ploughs offer on-land/in-the-furrow working positions, suiting them to both wheeled and tracked tractors. James de Havilland picks out some of the more important points to consider when contemplating a second-hand LO/EO reversible
IDespite so much farm media and adviser attention focusing on all aspects of minimum tillage, the traditional plough remains an essential tool in the cultivation armoury of many businesses. Indeed, some farmers have actually expanded the area that has come under the plough in recent years, as ever-increasing chemical costs and the need to control resistant grass weeds help to ensure the mouldboard’s survival.
And, just as important, the ploughing hardware hasn’t stood still, either. The subjects of this used machinery feature, the Kverneland LO and EO series, have evolved in a number of ways over the past decade, as have other ploughs within the Kverneland offering. Among the key product developments
are:
Long No 28 body
100cm inter-body clearance option
Choice of increased 75cm (EO) and 80cm (LO) under-beam clearance
Quick-fit points, quick-adjust skimmers
Interchangeable cross shafts for Cat III, Cat IIIN and Cat IV linkages.
