USED MACHINERY: Replacing New Holland 177hp TM175 and 194hp TM190 tractors for the 2007 season, the four-model T7000 series spans rated powers from 167hp to 213hp. Although these tractors carry over a substantial amount of long-wheelbase TM ‘DNA’, they are different in a number of important areas, including their engines. James de Havilland reports.
When we assessed the New Holland TM175 and TM190 tractors as a second-hand buy (profi used machinery 11/2006) we opened by suggesting that the company had got the specifications and features pretty much bang on target. We then went on to spoil the picture by saying early reliability issues had detracted from those entirely enviable tractor traits. But, in fairness, we also outlined some of the design and spec changes implemented by New Holland
to rectify early model woes, concluding that a sorted older TM and all post-2004 models should make a sound used purchase for farmers seeking a mid-weight unit capable of both draught and lighter top work.
