USED MACHINERY: New Holland TM short-wheelbase tractors: Back in 1996, New Holland launched its 60-series tractors that duly went on to become the TM in late-‘99. All then stayed much the same until the end of 2002, which marked the arrival of new designations and two extra models, the long-wheelbase TM175 and TM190 (profi 11/06). Here James de Havilland focuses on buying the TM115 to TM165 and later TM120 to TM155.
‘Not another profile piece on the New Holland TM tractor?’ comes the profi subscriber cry. To be fair, such reader recalcitrance has some justification because, even though we only make brief mention of the long-wheelbase TMs previously featured in profi 11/06, this isn’t even the first time we’ve profiled this article’s star attractions, the mainstream short-wheelbase TM models. So, in short, why the return profi appearance for TM?
Simple really. Popularity – and the fact that there’s plenty of subject matter to go at. For New Holland TMs have long been among the better tractor sellers in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, with a substantial vehicle park also ensuring these tractors are readily available on the used market. This product availability makes it easier to select the right used buy, but equally can trip up those who are not overly familiar with the precise details of the model line-
up, how it has evolved and exactly what specs are on offer.
